Does cockroach repeller help?

There are many effective means to combat cockroaches, but, unfortunately, they all have one big drawback - toxicity to humans. Therefore, as a rule, all tenants are removed from the premises before processing the apartment. But what if it is impossible?

Insect repeller

Then the cockroach repeller comes to the rescue. There are many advantages to using it, there’s no hassle with its use, and it’s safer for health than chemicals. However, does it fulfill its function? Does cockroaches really scare away, as manufacturers say? Let's check it out.

Types of repellers, the principle of their action and effectiveness

There are several types of devices, the principle of which is based on repelling insects. In particular, ultrasonic repellers, electromagnetic, electrofumigators, and aquafumigators were invented from cockroaches. Let's consider each of them separately.

Ultrasound Repeller

An ultrasonic cockroach repeller emits high frequency waves. They are inaudible to the human ear, however, as the manufacturers claim, they are extremely unpleasant for insects. The action of ultrasound on insects is scientifically proven. So, for example, mosquitoes that received a signal from the device, similar to the sounds made by a bat, scatter from him in horror. Accordingly, for cockroaches, you can imitate something similar, from which the Prussians will flee by tightening the antennae.
Pros of ultrasonic repeller:

  • ease of use;
  • lack of need to vacate the premises;
  • safety for health.

In addition, the range of the device is quite large and with its help one can protect the entire apartment. Another plus is that it acts not only on cockroaches, but also on other pests.

It would seem that here is a panacea for intolerable insects. Turn on the repeller in the mains and enjoy the peace. However, not all so simple. The catch is that cockroaches do not communicate using sound waves. Accordingly, ultrasound from cockroaches does not help. In addition, the safety of the device is also in doubt. If it really causes insects to panic, does it not act in a similar way on humans?

Disadvantages of an ultrasonic repeller:

  • high price;
  • low efficiency;
  • dubious security.

Interesting fact! An ultrasound scan performed in late pregnancy is not very pleasing to the fetus. It turns out that he hears ultrasound, which for him is comparable in power to the rumble of an underground train on the way to the station.

Electromagnetic repeller

An electromagnetic cockroach repeller generates low-frequency electromagnetic waves that cause insects to leave the home. As the manufacturers of such a device assure, it is completely safe for people and effective against cockroaches.

Positive qualities of the electromagnetic repeller:

  • security;
  • ease of use;
  • large coverage area;
  • wide range of action.

Manufacturers also promise to get rid of cockroaches in 2-3 weeks.Is it so? Let's figure it out.

So, is the electromagnetic impulse really so terrible for insects? Indeed, a signal of sufficient power can cause discomfort in insects, but in a similar way it will affect a person. The device from cockroaches for home use emits waves too weak to harm health, but, unfortunately, it is completely useless. Industrial repellers are unsafe for people and can only be included in their absence.

Negative qualities of the electromagnetic device:

  • low efficiency;
  • quite high price.

Interesting fact! German scientists conducted research on electromagnetic waves emitted by cell phones. It turned out that mobile phones are not entirely healthy, if not to say that they are harmful. Brain cells, DNA, skin protein, and reproductive function in men were affected.

Electrofumigator

Another device powered by electricity is a fumigator. It works on the same principle as mosquito plates. You turn on the cockroach appliance into the socket and put the tablet soaked in a special composition on the heating element. As the temperature rises, an odorous substance begins to evaporate on the surface of the plate. After some time, the insects disappear from the home, not bearing a fragrant attack.

Pros of using electrofumigators:

  • ease of use;
  • proven effectiveness;
  • low cost;
  • security.

One can argue about security. Still, in the air that we breathe, some substances are released, possibly safe for humans, but still smelly. So in a room with children it is better not to use a fumigator from cockroaches. In addition, the action of the device ends immediately after disconnecting it from the network. As soon as the scaring smell disappears, the insects will immediately return and continue to multiply, as if nothing had happened.

Cons electrofumigators:

  • short validity period;
  • pretty strong smell.

Aquafumigator

In addition to aromatic repellers, there is also an aquafumigator from cockroaches. This is a fairly powerful tool, which is simply difficult to call a repeller, since it not only drives insects away, but also causes their mass death. Using it is easy. It is enough to install a bottle of liquid in a glass of water and after 2-3 minutes. the poison will begin to act.

Positive qualities of an aquafumigator:

  • high efficiency;
  • in comparison with ultrasonic devices and electromagnetic emitters low cost;
  • wide range of action.

Unfortunately, with increasing efficiency, its toxicity has also increased. In the process, suffocating white steam is released, which makes it impossible for a person to be present during treatment. So, the principle of operation of this device and its use are not much different from aerosol insecticides.

Disadvantages of aquafumigator:

  • the need to leave the apartment during processing;
  • short duration;
  • high price compared to aerosols, with the same effect.

Which repeller to choose?

So, what remedies for cockroaches to choose? Electric emitters or fumigators? Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages. However, since the main selection criteria for us are efficiency and safety, the ultrasonic means for cockroaches and electromagnetic devices should be discarded first. They did not live up to their hopes.

Among the remaining fumigators, the choice will go in accordance with the requirements for them. If you need immediate total destruction of insects, even despite certain difficulties associated with the use of the product, then an aquafumigator is best suited. If safety comes first, then you should stop your choice with an aromatic repeller.

  • Well, it’s not true if the repeller is not industrial, and there is no result. There is. We bought an ecosniper LS-919. They brought out cockroaches, and there were no new ones. Well, you can sometimes turn it on for prevention. If new ones come running, then you can again bring the repeller. But it’s safe. Poisons can harm yourself.

  • The repeller from everything that is possible (cockroaches, rodents, some other insects), according to the description in the instructions) did NOT help ANY DROP! I even started to think that it attracts more than it scares away. Cockroaches did not even think about forgetting visits on a visit. As a result, about 3 thousand rubles was simply thrown to the wind.
