The effectiveness and rules of the use of the drug "Commander" from the Colorado potato beetle

Many gardeners and gardeners choose industrial insecticides for crop protection, which are characterized by high efficiency and rapid action. Such drugs, as a rule, have a certain hazard class, but if you follow the instructions and follow all safety precautions, they will not cause any harm. “Komandor”, a universal insecticide against a wide range of insect pests, refers to such funds. But if we talk about the protection of potato beds directly, then in this case it is advisable to understand how the “Commander” works from the Colorado potato beetle and how it is used in this case.

Colorado Beetle Commander

Characteristic

"Commander" is a contact insecticide that copes with attacks of various soil pests, including the Colorado potato beetle. Available in the form of a liquid concentrate. Its main active ingredient is imidacloprid at a concentration of 200 g / l.

Today on the market you can find another insecticide on iminaclopride with a consonant name - this is “MAXI Commander”. However, its release form is water-dispersible granules with a different concentration of the active substance, which is 700 g / kg!

The drug "Commander" has systemic activity, which allows it to quickly penetrate the body of each treated plant and spread throughout all its aboveground and underground organs: leaves, stem and root system. When a pest eats such a culture, the poison immediately enters the esophagus, where it is absorbed, then into the bloodstream and, as a result, attacks the central nervous system. Thus, the insect loses its ability to move, the ability to eat and soon is guaranteed to die.

The highest efficiency from the use of funds from the Colorado potato beetle "Commander" is observed during the first days after its use. Moreover, it works great both against adult individuals and against larvae at all stages of their development, from which there is much more harm.

“Commander” is allowed to be used in any weather conditions, which is unusual for drugs from the pyrethroid group, and it shows excellent results in pest control even at a sufficiently high air temperature. And since the principle of its action is somewhat different from the work of organophosphorus insecticides, as well as carbamates and pyrethroids, the development of resistance to it from insects is minimized.

“Commander” goes on sale in different capacities:

  • ampoules of 1 ml;
  • bottles of 10, 20 and 100 ml;
  • 1 liter bottles;
  • 5, 10 liter cans

Moreover, all containers always have individual packaging in the form of blisters or plastic bags. Canisters are necessarily packed in cardboard boxes. Any form of release is implemented in conjunction with the instructions, which spell out the rules for the use of the drug and precautions.

"Commander" is characterized by good compatibility with products whose action is aimed at improving the growth of crops, as well as with fungicides and other insecticides.But before you mix the two drugs, you should definitely check them for compatibility, which will avoid unforeseen situations!

"Commander" must not be mixed with any alkaline agents!

Terms of use

The use of the “Commander” preparation is divided into two main stages: preparation of the working solution and treatment of the site.

Preparation of working solution

The drug from the Colorado potato beetle "Commander" is a concentrate that requires mandatory dilution with water.

We carry out all manipulations with the concentrate with gloves!

To prepare the working solution, you must do the following:

  • take a bucket, pour a liter of water into it and add 1 ml of concentrate;
  • mix thoroughly and for a long time - about 5 minutes;
  • after adding more water - a total of 5 liters of working solution should be obtained;
  • mix again and pour into the sprayer.

This amount is enough to process one hundred potato beds.

If we talk about a drug called “Commander MAXI”, then it is more concentrated, and therefore it is bred in a different ratio - 15 l of water are added per 1 g of the drug. This amount of funds is enough to process 3 acres of potato land!

Application of working solution

Before moving on to spraying plants, you must protect yourself from contact with the drug. To do this, we put on clothes made of thick fabric, preferably with long sleeves and full trousers. To protect the eyes we use glasses, to protect the respiratory tract - a cotton-gauze bandage or a respirator.

We turn to the processing of plants:

  • we spray the preparation as evenly as possible, make sure that it hits the green mass, both on the upper and lower surfaces of the leaves - this will ensure the best result;
  • as mentioned above, processing can be carried out even in the heat, as the "Commander" is resistant to high temperatures and ultraviolet;
  • however, when planning processing with this tool, it is advisable to follow the weather forecast - on this day there should be no rain and strong wind;
  • spraying potato beds is carried out at least three weeks before harvesting;
  • in the course of processing it is impossible to smoke, drink or eat;
  • it is not allowed to spray the garden with the “Commander” means from the Colorado potato beetle during the flowering period of plants, as it is toxic to bees.

The drug "Commander" belongs to the 3rd hazard class and is a moderately hazardous substance. After treatment, wash your hands thoroughly, wash your face, rinse your mouth, remove all clothing and rub at high temperatures.

If for some reason the drug has entered the oral cavity, and then into the body, then the first thing you should do is drink plenty of warm water and induce vomiting. Next, it is advisable to take activated charcoal and consult a doctor.
