Overview of methods to help get rid of lice in the apartment and on the body

Treatment of lice and treatment of the apartment from parasites is a rather troublesome event. But if you approach this thoughtfully and do the work sequentially, then in most cases this procedure can be completed in one day without the need for repetition. And remember, before you get rid of lice on the body, you should process the infected room - household items and clothing. This will be written in more detail below.

Lice treatment

Room processing

Before you process an apartment from lice, you should make sure that you are dealing with clothes parasites, since head lice live only on the hairy areas of the human body. On clothing and household items, they find themselves by chance and, as a rule, do not stay there for a long time.

So, we start processing things.

  1. Contaminated clothing and bedding can be boiled for 20 minutes. For greater effectiveness, permethrin-based insecticides are added to the water.
  2. Bed linens and bedspreads can be overridden automatically at the maximum allowable temperature.
  3. Before removing lice from delicate things that are not washable and digestible, it is recommended to put them in bags. After a week, bags of clothes should be put in the freezer for two days.
  4. If the fact of infection is not precisely established, but there is such a possibility, then it is enough to just hang out things on the balcony (not glazed) and ventilate for 14 days. During this period of time, insects will simply die of hunger.

    Important! The party must be sunny. Otherwise, clothes should be placed outside.

  5. In case of intensive infection, things should be taken to dry cleaning, where they will be processed in special steam-formalin chambers.
  6. Combs and hair brushes belonging to all family members must be put in boiling water and boiled for several minutes. The lice hiding behind the bristles are guaranteed to die.
  7. Processing things from lice will require processing soft toys. Especially if pediculosis infected a child. With toys they do the same as with delicate things - they put them in bags and after a week they send them to the freezer.

Treatment of premises from lice can be carried out by sanitary services. In this case, you will have to invest a certain amount, but these funds will be fully justified. Specialized teams will carry out work as soon as possible, and after a few hours the procedure will be completed.

Important! Clean and used items should not be put together before processing.

Tools for handling things

When removing lice from underwear and clothing, be sure to use antiparasitic agents. The most popular ones include:

  • Medifox is a remedy for head parasites based on the strongest insecticide - permethrin. Relatively safe for humans and fatal for lice;
  • NOC - a tool similar to the previous one;
  • Bubble - head lice shampoo, but is effective against clothes parasites;
  • Pedilin - compared with the first drug is less reliable, but at the same time cheaper;
  • Karbofos - an ancient insecticidal agent against parasites, which is quite effective.

Folk remedies

The fight against lice can occur using folk remedies. These include:

  • aniseed oil;
  • kerosene;
  • vinegar;
  • turpentine;
  • tar soap;
  • thick decoction of tansy;
  • cranberry juice.

Attention! The first drugs on the list have an intense smell, which will later be difficult to get rid of, and cranberry juice will stain things.

Tansy

Of all the aforementioned folk remedies, the most popular and harmless to human health is a decoction of tansy. This product is used to soak infected items before washing. In addition, it is recommended that the bunches of this plant be laid out in cabinets and bedside tables where bedding and underwear are stored. This technique will scare off single individuals who managed to survive after washing. Although this situation is extremely rare.

Aggressive drugs

With regard to the use of vinegar, kerosene and turpentine, these products must be handled with extreme care. If you decide to wash the laundry with the addition of one of these drugs to the water, then be sure to wear gloves. It is advisable to use water not too hot, as their vapors are harmful. But by and large, it is better not to use vinegar, turpentine, and kerosene, but to resort to more gentle folk recipes or use one of the modern products against lice.

Anise oil

This oil has been rarely used recently to combat lice, as it alone cannot cope with parasites. Its purpose is rather prevention or the role of an auxiliary substance. With the help of anise oil it is impossible to remove or destroy lice, it can only slightly stop their development and the process of reproduction.
But, on the other hand, anise oil can also bring benefits. With it, you can restore the skin that suffered after bites of lice. In addition, it softens the skin well and eliminates redness and itching, which often appear after using professional pediculicidal preparations.
If we talk about its use as a prophylactic drug, then in this case a small amount of oil is enough to add to a regular shampoo and use the resulting mixture to wash your hair. Its aroma will scare off lice and will reduce the risk of lice infestation to a minimum.

Tar soap

Actually action tar soap against lice somewhat overrated. But if this is your choice folk remedy, then immediately be prepared for the fact that it must be used for a long time. Short-term application to the affected area will not allow to destroy parasites. And in order for the substances that make up the soap to work, it will be necessary to allocate about 30-40 minutes for each treatment.
This tool does not act on nits at all, and it does not kill adults, but rather inhibits their activity. The best results in the fight against lice can be achieved only if, after each such treatment, a special comb comb is used. Insects will be in a locked state, and, accordingly, combing them will be much easier.

Lice treatment

The most effective methods of treatment for human lice include: insecticides for treating hair areas of the body and mechanical removal of parasites through special ridges.

The sequence of the procedure should be as follows:

  • body treatment is carried out using pediculicidal agents: shampoos and lotions. The drug is applied to the infected area of the body and, after the time specified in the instructions, is washed off;
  • if the infection was insignificant, then in this case you can resort to a natural herbal remedy - a tansy decoction, which is used as a conditioner for the body after bathing;
  • using special combs, comb out hair to remove dead insects;
  • seven days later, re-treatment is carried out, which is necessary to kill the larvae hatching from eggs.

Another topical treatment for lice and nits is a haircut. But as a rule, this event is held after the use of antiparasitic drugs.

Important! With advanced forms of pediculosis, which are accompanied by ulcers, purulent irritations and allergies, only a doctor can prescribe a therapeutic drug.

Treatment for lice should be carried out in each family member, even if not all will have symptoms of infection. It is possible that in those who do not experience itching, parasites also live, but in small quantities.

Head Lice Remedies

So, what can be treated for lice and nits?

    1. Sprays - drugs are very easy to use. Most are effective only when fighting adult parasites, for example, Nyuda, but some can also destroy nits, such as Pediculen Ultra spray. Using an aerosol is very simple: it must be sent to the infected area and sprayed several times by pressing the valve. The treatment is considered complete when both skin and hair are covered. Further, the drug is kept on the body for a certain amount of time and washed off according to the instructions.

      Attention! These products form an aerosol cloud, so there is a high probability of the poisonous substance getting into the patient's airways. Therefore, they must be used very carefully.

    2. Shampoo is the most gentle drug. On sale you can find a tool intended for the treatment of lice for both adults and children from the age of one year. Shampoos are highly effective in combating head and pubic parasites. The most popular are: Parasidosis, Pedilin, Chigia. These funds are considered the best option for the treatment of head lice at home, as they are extremely easy to use and beneficially safe for health. But at the same time, in quality they are incomparable with aerosols, since they do not contain dimethicone, a substance that is harmful to lice.

      Advice! If you purchase shampoo for treating a child, then be sure to pay attention to contraindications and the minimum allowable age category for use.

    3. Creams - are quite effective, but differ from previous means in complexity in application. Popular lice creams include: Nittifor, Nyx. Compared to other pediculicidal drugs, these stand out for their affordable cost. If you carry out the treatment of lice qualitatively, carefully applying the cream on the entire affected surface, then the result in this case will be no less pronounced than when using aerosols or shampoos.
    1. Concentrates, emulsions and lotions - if used improperly, can be dangerous, therefore, before using them, you must read the instructions. Avicin, Foxilon and Medifox will be effective against lice. These drugs are solutions of fairly powerful insecticides, which when they enter the body of an insect begin to act actively, paralyze the nervous system and lead to rapid death.
    1. Combs - used after the use of insecticides. They have frequent strong teeth that allow combing out all lice and nits. But in one session you can’t completely get rid of insects, so you need to comb your hair every day for a week with combs. This method of getting rid of parasites is quite laborious, but if you do not want to use chemicals, then the comb is a real find.On sale today you can find simple and electronic devices for controlling lice. The latter kill insects by electric discharge.
  1. Folk remedies such as vinegar, kerosene, tar soap, cranberry juice and hellebore watercan also be used to combat head parasites. They are no less effective compared to modern drugs, but more dangerous.

Attention! Vinegar and kerosene can cause burns, so it is not recommended to use them to treat pediculosis in children. Using these products for adults, you should first study the technology of their breeding.

All pediculicidal agents require a thorough study of the instructions for their use. Otherwise, you can get a negative result. They should be applied to the hair along the entire length, in some cases it will be necessary to insulate the head. After a certain period of time, the drug is washed off with shampoo.

But even the best remedy for adult lice is far from always able to cope with nits. In order to destroy the eggs, it is recommended to use special preparations or use a complex of means, the action of which is aimed at combating lice and nits. If you carry out the treatment of pediculosis at home, then in order to get rid of the latter, you will need to carry out at least two treatments with an interval of 7 days - the first time you destroy adult insects, and the second - larvae hatching from eggs.
When using modern pediculicidal drugs for the treatment of children, one should not forget that they can cause allergies. Tender baby skin can react with soreness, itching, redness, and sometimes atopic dermatitis and hair loss. Therefore, before buying a particular product, you must carefully study the instructions, and when using it, constantly monitor the reaction of your baby's skin.

And remember that preventing lice is much easier than treating it. Therefore, try to avoid crowded places of asocial persons and be careful in public transport.
