Lice Shampoo

Review of the best antiparasitic shampoos

Not every similar tool is highly effective and completely safe. And in order to make the right choice for each specific situation, you should first study the properties of the most popular shampoos. This knowledge will avoid the occurrence of adverse reactions and provide an opportunity to get rid of parasites in the shortest possible time.

Veda

Shampoo from lice "Veda" is a somewhat tired remedy. Today on sale you can find its improved version called "Veda-2." The active ingredient of Veda shampoo is permethrin insecticide. The composition of the drug "Veda-2" includes additional components that soften the action of permethrin.

Both options are highly effective in combating head and pubic lice - they die 40 minutes after applying the product to the hair. But nits with the help of these shampoos can not be removed.

On a note! The instructions indicate that the Veda shampoo is recommended to be kept on the hair for about 10 minutes, and then washed off. But the reviews of consumers who managed to test it in action, argue that this tool is effective if it is on the head for half an hour. And it should be borne in mind that increasing the recommended exposure time increases the risk of skin irritations.

This lice shampoo must be used twice. The second procedure is carried out two weeks after the first application - this is necessary in order to destroy new lice that hatch from surviving nits.

Nyx

The remedy for lice “Nyx” is not a shampoo, but rather a cream, since when applied to hair it practically does not foam. But according to the principle of use, it is no different from shampoos, which is why it is called that.

The active substance here is also permethrin, so "Nyx" in its effectiveness is not inferior to the previous drug.

To get rid of lice, Nix shampoo should be used as follows:

  • wash hair with regular shampoo and dry slightly;
  • apply an antiparasitic agent, foam and leave on the hair;

    Advice! In this case, the manufacturer advises keeping the product on the head for about 15 minutes, but in practice, effectiveness is achieved only after half an hour.

  • after the required time, the drug is washed off with plenty of water;
  • the hair is washed again with ordinary shampoo to completely remove the insecticide.

It should be remembered that the drug from lice "Nyx" is able to cause adverse reactions, namely:

  • itching
  • rash;
  • swelling of the skin;
  • paresthesia;
  • an allergy.

In addition, it is not recommended to use it during pregnancy and lactation, and if there is an urgent need, you should first consult your doctor.

Paranit

Shampoo for lice "Paranit" is absolutely safe for health. This product is manufactured by the Belgian company OmegaPharma, specializing in the manufacture of harmless drugs.

Unlike previous anti-pediculicidal shampoos, this remedy is based not on an insecticide, but on a mineral substance - clearole, which is why Paranit is less effective. Clearol acts slightly softer than permethrin - it envelops insects with a thin film, due to which they are strangled.

When you buy this shampoo against lice, you also get crest, which need to comb out dead and weakened parasites after using the main tool.

Use this drug as well as others similar to it: apply to hair, foam and rinse after 10-15 minutes. But, as in previous cases, to achieve the best result, the exposure time should be extended. At the same time, you should not be afraid of the occurrence of adverse reactions, since reviews indicate that they were not observed.

Permin

“Permin” is a shampoo for lice based on the permethrin already familiar to us. It is highly effective after the first application:

  • Wash hair first with ordinary shampoo and wipe with a towel;
  • shake the product before use;
  • apply antiparasitic shampoo to hair and scalp;
  • After 10 minutes rinse off with plenty of water.

    Advice! In the treatment of pediculosis with this drug, special attention should be paid to the occipital part of the head and the area behind the ears.

Most often, lice die after a single use of this drug, but if a week later parasites are again found on the head, then in this case it will be necessary to re-treat it.

Possible development of side effects:

  • itching
  • burning sensation;
  • numbness of the scalp;
  • edema;
  • rash.

If such symptoms occur, as well as if the product enters the mucous membrane of the eye, immediately wash it off and seek qualified medical help.

Chigia

Hygiene is a shampoo for the treatment of pediculosis, moreover, it is effective against lice and nits. The former die due to the content of permethrin in the insecticide, the latter are eliminated due to the presence of acetic acid, which softens their adhesive coating.

Apply this tool as follows:

  • wash your hair with regular shampoo;
  • on the wet strands, apply the “Hygia” product and wait about half an hour;
  • rinse off and comb out the hair with an anti-pediculicidal comb.

    Attention! Thanks to the use of a comb, the effectiveness of this shampoo increases significantly!

But remember that if itching and burning occur, which may appear due to acetic acid, you should immediately wash off the product. Otherwise, burns may form on the skin.

Tar

"Tar" shampoo is more likely folk remedy for lice, since its main purpose is the treatment of skin. More often it is recommended to use it as an emollient that can alleviate the symptoms of head lice - it has an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effect, promotes the healing of wounds resulting from combing of bite sites.

This shampoo is rich in phenols, which to some extent are dangerous for lice. But this drug can not be called an effective remedy for parasites.

Pedilin

Pedilin Shampoo for Lice and Nits is based on malathion - a powerful contact insecticide. Effective against adults, nits and larvae. The active substance penetrates the protective shells of insects and kills them.

Use this tool the same way as everyone else.But at the same time, special care must be taken, since it can cause side effects from the skin and upset the work of the nervous system. Similar reactions are rare, but can occur during pregnancy and in the treatment of children.

Baby shampoos

Lice shampoo is the most suitable treatment for pediculosis in children. Such popularity is due to the low cost of the drug and ease of use. Let us dwell on the most popular brands.

  1. Nittifor. The basis of this shampoo is the insecticide permethrin, which paralyzes the nervous system of insects. Its reuse is not necessary, since the drug has a prolonged effect - the active substances after the first use continue to work for two weeks. During this period, new lice that hatch from nits die.

    Attention! Apply this product to washed hair and keep on the head according to the instructions.

  2. NOC. The tool is a baby cream-shampoo for lice, based on permethrin. It must be foamed on wet hair and washed off after 40 minutes. After use, it is recommended to comb out the hair with an antiparasitic comb.
  3. Medifox. The same permethrin works here, which paralyzes the nervous system of insects. It is applied to the hair and rubbed into the roots, cover the head with a hat and leave for half an hour. If a week later live lice are found on the head, then the treatment is repeated.

Prophylactic shampoos

For the prevention of lice, the same shampoos are used as for the treatment of head lice. But they are used for this purpose in a slightly different way.

  1. To prevent infection with parasites, shampoo is enough to apply once every 10 days. Even if several lice were able to get on their heads, they won’t be able to bring a new generation, because for this they need two weeks. A weekly treatment will destroy all parasites that accidentally ended up in the hair.
  2. The following shampoos are considered suitable for prevention: Biosim, NOC, Veda, Veda-2 and Nyx.
  3. The product foams on the head and leaves for 15 minutes, while less shampoo can be used to avoid allergic reactions.
  4. During preventive procedures, contacts with infected pediculosis should be limited, and the sessions themselves should be done regularly. This is the only way to protect against parasites.

And remember, before using any antiparasitic shampoo, you need to conduct a sensitivity test - apply a drop of the product to the elbow bend, wait a few minutes and see the result. If the skin has not reacted, then this shampoo can be safely used.

  • Paranit helped us. She shampooed the head with her daughter, then sat down to comb the nits with a comb, he goes there in the kit. For everything about everything half an hour, no more. Then she repeated a week later.

  • I have three children, lice bother us about once a year. The best tool Nittifor, one application is enough, but unfortunately you can not buy it anywhere. Everything else was retried, nonsense! We have to be processed every three days, and we keep the drugs longer than in the instructions. Nothing destroys nits.

  • But I do not agree with the last comment. We also tried this tool and did not help. There are much better shampoos, such as Leisner. Helped the first time.
