Fighting aphids with folk remedies - we prepare effective preparations according to proven recipes

Processing indoor plants, as well as fruit and berry crops during pesticide maturation is extremely undesirable in view of their toxicity to humans, animals and beneficial insects. In such situations, the fight against aphids by folk remedies is appropriate. They are no less effective in comparison with chemical preparations, however, it is not advisable to use them for large plantations, since it is very problematic to prepare the required amount of such a solution, it cannot be stored and it will be necessary to carry out several treatments. It is possible to recommend folk remedies for use for small greenhouses, country gardens and indoor greenhouses.

All folk remedies for aphids work equally effectively, despite the species belonging to the pest. Their recipe is quite simple, however, some features in the preparation and use still exist.

Herbal remedies

When using products based on plant materials, the following rules should be remembered.

  1. It is generally accepted that absolutely all home-made drugs are harmless. But it is not so. If you take celandine, dope, shag, tobacco or bleach as the basis, then work with such raw materials should be in the presence of personal protective equipment.
  2. In the manufacture of herbal remedies, one should strictly adhere to the recipe, since some solutions in violation of the ratio of components can cause burns in plants.
  3. First, plant infusions and decoctions are checked in a small area and only after receiving a positive result can they be used in all beds and in greenhouses.
  4. Such means for processing fruit crops are used several times during the season: during the formation of buds, at the end of flowering, and 2-4 weeks before harvesting.
  5. Vegetables sprayed with herbal preparations can be harvested and consumed no earlier than a month later.
  6. Berry crops are allowed to be processed before flowering and the second time after all the fruits are harvested.

The following are the most popular and effective recipes for aphids based on plant components.

  • Bow. Grind about 100 g of pulp and pour in two liters of water. Leave for 6 hours, filter and add a little soap. Add water to get two liters of the drug.
  • Garlic. Pass 200 g cloves through a press, pour a liter of water, cover and transfer to a warm place for insisting. After 5 days, prepare a working solution: for every 15 ml of infusion, add 5 l of water.
  • Shag or tobacco. Grind 200 g of dry raw materials into powder, pour five liters of water and leave for a couple of days in a dark place. Dilute with water to get 10 l of solution, filter.
  • Horse sorrel. Take 400 g of rhizome and pour two liters of water. Leave for 3 hours, filter.
  • Hot peppers. For 300 g of dry raw materials or a kilo of fresh, you need to take 10 liters of water.The product should be kept warm for a day, filtered and used for spraying, after diluting 1 liter of the drug in a bucket of water.
  • Pine needles. A pound of needles pour 2 liters of water, transfer to heat and insist for a week. Filter and prepare the working solution, diluting the infusion with water in a ratio of 1: 1.
  • Potato tops. Grind a kilo of greens and pour 10 liters of water. After 3 hours, filter.

On a note! For this recipe, you need to take only healthy tops. If you use dried raw materials, then for 10 liters of water it is necessary to take 800 g, in dry form - 600 g!

Flower preparations

Any folk remedy for aphids on flowers is used similarly to herbal ones and has the same application features. The following preparations can be prepared:

  • Chamomile. Pour 200 g of dry raw materials with two liters of water. After 13 hours, strain. A working solution is prepared in this ratio: 1 liter of infusion 3 liters of water, while 4 g of soap is added to each liter of the finished product.
  • Dandelion. For 400 g of fresh greens, take 200 g of roots, fill everything with a bucket of water and leave for 3 hours.

    Recommendation! To prepare this product, raw materials must be collected during the flowering period of dandelion!

  • Marigold. Collect the plants along with the inflorescences and fill them with a bucket halfway. Fill a bucket with water and leave the composition for 48 hours. Filter and put half the bar of crushed soap.
  • Celandine. From half a kilo of fresh raw materials and 1.2 liters of water, prepare a decoction - mix the ingredients, insist for 36 hours, then bring to a boil and cook for half an hour. To filter.

    Advice! Celandine can also be used dried, only 100 g of raw material must be taken per liter of water!

  • Yarrow. During flowering, collect a pound of grass, pour a liter of water and keep in a water bath for 40 minutes. Bring the volume of the solution to 5 liters and put it in a dark place. After 2 days, it can be used for spraying.

Ash and soap

Soap solution from aphids is considered one of the simplest and at the same time effective means. Ash also shows good results. And these two drugs are united by their availability and ease of use.

  • Laundry soap. Grind and dissolve 300 g of raw materials in a bucket of water. You can use liquid soap, which is taken 120 ml per bucket of water.
  • Tar soap. 0.1 kg of raw material is grated and diluted in a bucket of water.
  • Ash. For 300 g of raw materials add about a bucket of water, bring everything to a boil and cook for half an hour.

Of the available products

Some popular methods of combating aphids involve the use of products that can certainly be found in any kitchen. And often, such raw materials become an excellent basis for an effective drug for parasites.

  • Vodka. There is nothing complicated in using this tool. It is not connected to anything, but used in pure form. Moreover, the cheapest vodka is suitable, which is simply poured into a spray bottle and plants are sprayed with it.
  • Ammonia is another reliable aphid remedy. Add 30 ml of alcohol and a little soap to a bucket of water - the drug is ready!
  • Sunflower oil. A glass of oil should be added to one bucket of water, mix the components well and used to spray the plants.

Biological methods

In addition to the aforementioned folk remedies for aphids, there are so-called biological methods with which you can also expel "uninvited guests" from your site.

Predatory insects

Aphids have natural enemies that you can attract to your garden. These include:

  • ladybugs;
  • lacewings;
  • female flies;
  • some species of wasps.

Birds

Some birds feed aphids to their chicks. And if you want to get rid of the pest in this way, then you need to attract to your site:

  • tits;
  • sparrows;
  • Kings
  • robin robots;
  • wrens;
  • hemp.

Right neighborhood

There are some types of plants that are particularly attractive to aphids.And if you want to protect valuable crops from parasite attacks, then you should not plant them near them:

  • nasturtiums;
  • kosmey;
  • tuber begonia;
  • sleeping pills;
  • mallow;
  • viburnum.

Repellent plants

Aphids do not tolerate the smell of certain plants, for example:

  • Luke;
  • garlic
  • daisies.

They should be planted around the perimeter and along the beds, and the parasite will definitely not encroach on your crops.

Do not forget also that an excess of nitrogen fertilizers leads to an intensive growth of young greenery, which is very attractive for aphids.
