How to use cypermethrin from wasps? Basic information on available insecticide and methods of use against stinging insects

Cypermethrin is a modern insecticide belonging to the group of pyrethroids. It is part of many aerosols and concentrates for the extermination of insects, and also the drug of the same name is on sale. Such drugs are approved for use in residential premises. Cypermethrin is effective against wasps and other insects that annoy people.

Insecticide description

Cypermethrin is widely used to control insects both at home and in industry, government agencies and in agriculture. Observing safety precautions, it is allowed to use it to destroy wasps and their hives in a personal plot, outbuildings and in the house.

Cypermethrin from wasps

The main advantages of cypermertrin against wasps and other insects:

  1. Universality: the substance destroys most pests, including flying insects.
  2. Average toxicity, which allows you to use it without fear for health.
  3. High efficiency: the substance perfectly kills adult insects and larvae.
  4. The result does not deteriorate due to exposure to sunlight, so cypermethrin is indicated for use in open areas.
  5. Prolonged action: although the effectiveness of the drug is highest on the first day, the poisoning effect on individuals persists for 2 weeks, so wasps are unlikely to want to return to their previous habitat.
  6. Lack of addiction: if insects can develop immunity to other insecticides, which significantly reduces the effectiveness of repeated treatments, this does not happen when using cypermethrin.
  7. Availability: the drug of the same name is inexpensive, and it can be purchased at any store that sells products in the "garden garden" category. Also on sale there are many funds with cypermethrin in the composition (for example, aerosol "Raptor" from cockroaches).

All this makes cypermethrin the most popular pyrethroid insecticide. As part of aerosols, it is often used in combination with other toxic substances, which enhances the effect produced.

How does it affect wasps?

Cypermethrin is an insecticide of the contact-intestinal type of penetration of insects into the body. It gets inside when it directly hits the victim’s body, as well as through the oral apparatus. Most individuals on which the product was sprayed die in the first minutes. Other individuals become infected and also die soon.

Although cypermethrin does not have a systemic effect, under favorable conditions, it remains on the surfaces for approximately 20 days, because it is resistant to high temperatures and ultraviolet.

The mechanism of action on wasp cypermethrin is characteristic of all pyrethroid compounds. Soon after contact with an insect, the substance blocks the sodium channels - an important part of their central nervous system. Thus, the transmission of nerve impulses is disrupted, and the wasp brain cannot control the work of all organs. Soon there comes complete paralysis of the individual, followed by death.

Application against wasps

Cypermethrin is sold on a mass scale mainly in liquid form, although it can also be found in the form of tablets or powder. The exact dosage and instructions for use are individual for each drug. To combat individuals, a solution of liquid cypermethrin with a concentration of 0.1% is used. For 1 liter of water, only 1 ml of the substance is required.

The insecticide is mainly used to destroy wasp hives. They can also be sprayed on premises in which too many insects have accumulated, and they pose a significant threat to humans.

Spraying a nest or room

When processing the nest or room, it is important to follow the rules:

  1. All people except the sprayer and pets should leave the “work area”.
  2. It is recommended to use personal protective equipment against toxic substances. Therefore, it is recommended to wear a special suit or ordinary raincoat; goggles and a respirator that protects the respiratory system and digestive tract from the entry of toxic chemicals into the body.
  3. The working solution must be prepared in accordance with safety precautions and exactly with the instructions.
  4. It is unacceptable to increase the dosage of the drug.

Other important recommendations are related to the features of wasps known for their stinging bites:

  1. To “meet” with insects, you need to dress appropriately: open areas of the body are not permissible. Wasps can fly under clothes, therefore it is necessary to protect the area of the collar, tuck gloves into sleeves, and trouser legs into shoes. Things should be made of dense material that the insect can not bite through.
  2. It is recommended not to approach the nest closer than 1.5 m. Excited wasps, sensing something was amiss, can be extremely aggressive. For the same reason, it is undesirable to use the stairs, getting to their hive, located at a height. There is a risk of falling from it due to a sudden attack. It is better to use a garden spray, allowing you to get up to 2-3 m.
  3. Wasps are day creatures. When processing hives, it is advisable to destroy them in the early morning or late evening. So you can be sure that cypermethrin will destroy the entire population.

When processing the nest, you should try so that as much of the substance as possible gets into the lower hole of the hive. After finishing work, they wait until the movement around him stops, and the wasps stop flying out of it. If after 20 minutes this does not happen, then re-processing will be required. When the individuals inside the nest died, you should carefully remove it and burn it, and treat the attachment site with insecticide residues or an ordinary potassium permanganate solution.

If the nest is low, you can put on it a bag with poured cypermethrin on it from below and tie it tightly.

If necessary, destroy wasps that have flown into the room, the solution is accurately sprayed onto them. Almost immediately, the insects will die and remain on the floor. After this, the room is aired. Wet cleaning using a soap-soda solution will be useful. After 2 hours, you can safely be indoors.

Cypermethrin is an effective insecticide that helps to destroy wasps and their hives in a domestic environment. Its use is relatively safe, but if alarming symptoms appear - nausea, lacrimation, dizziness - you should seek medical help. Accurate adherence to instructions and compliance with all safety measures will help to avoid undesirable consequences.
