What is poison for wasps: a review of insecticide chemicals

Poison for wasps

When choosing poison for wasps, you need to determine its release form and brand. Each of them has its own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, they should be studied before making a purchase. The right choice will help to quickly get rid of insects that are dangerous for humans with their painful bites, which often cause allergic reactions. If a hornet’s nest is found, then first of all it is necessary to destroy its inhabitants.

Aerosols and sprays

In aerosol and spray, the liquid is supplied by a spray jet. Processing can be carried out at a distance from insects or their hive. In aerosols, active substances are supplied under high pressure, so they have a greater range.

COMBAT PowerSpray

According to the presentation of the manufacturer, this spray is safe for humans and animals. It can be used in residential and non-residential premises, as well as on the street for processing hives and aggregations of wasps. Processing can be done at a distance of 1 m: the bottle is equipped with a convenient spray handle, which facilitates the use of the product. Easy to get to nooks, spray cracks and crevices in the walls of buildings.
It contains permitrin, a powerful insecticide and acaricide, causing almost instant death (5-15 seconds after getting on the body) of various insects. Has a pleasant smell with coniferous notes that scare away wasps.

Recommended by the Ministry of Health for use in medical and child care facilities, as well as in food production.

Dichlorvos NEO

Aerosol "Dichlorvos NEO" is an improved version of the insecticide that is well known to everyone. Its important advantage is the lack of smell, as the manufacturer indicates on the packaging. But judging by the reviews, a slight smell is still present, although it quickly disappears when used indoors.

Another advantage of Dichlorvos NEO is its triple formula. The composition of the aerosol includes:

  • piperonyl butoxide - a poison for wasps from the group of pyrethroids (common synthetic insecticides);
  • permethrin;
  • cypermethrin.

Together, they contribute to the destruction of wasps, having a neuroparalytic effect on them. The transmission of nerve impulses in the body of insects stops, causing a halt in the work of its systems. Since three pyrethroids are present in the composition at once, the active substances penetrate the body of the insect through direct contact, as well as through the respiratory tract and digestive tract. The disadvantage of "Dichlorvos NEO" can only be called its high toxicity: the use of the product is rational in dealing with a vast population of wasps. If there are few individuals, it is recommended to opt for insecticides with a milder effect. Also, sometimes several treatments of the premises may be necessary if not all individuals die after the first.

Proven Insect Repellent
The volume of the balloon is 190 ml. This is enough to process 30 m2 of premises

Mosquitol

The aerosol from the MOSQUITALL hornet's nests is easily recognizable by its yellow-black packaging design that catches your eye. Use this powerful tool is allowed only in non-residential premises (attics, sheds, terraces) and in the open air, because it has a strong toxic effect.The composition of the aerosol includes two active substances:

  1. Cypermethrin is a second-generation pyrethroid that produces a neuroparalytic effect on the body of wasps and other insects.
  2. Bioalletrin is an effective wasp poison and repellent.

The peculiarity of the Moskitol aerosol is the ability to process wasps and their nests at a distance of 6 m. This is true when insects have built a hive under the roof of a house, on a tree branch in a garden or in another hard-to-reach place. In this case, the active substances penetrate deep into the nest, instantly killing all its inhabitants. After this, it remains only to remove the hive and destroy it.

Raid

The spray from flying insects Raid can be sprayed at a distance of 1 m from the object. It has a pleasant, subtle smell, which soon disappears after application. This aerosol is allowed to be used in residential premises, but after spraying it is necessary to ensure the influx of fresh air and thoroughly ventilate the house. It consists of three active substances:

  • already familiar cypermethrin;
  • pralletrin;
  • imiprotrin.

All of them belong to the group of pyrethroids. An important advantage of these substances is not only effectiveness, but also the challenge of a “viral reaction”: if an individual received a small dose and did not die instantly, then it will infect them if it contacts its relatives. So all wasps will die within a few hours.

An improved version is Raid Max in blue packaging. This is a universal remedy against flying and crawling insects. In its composition, cypermethrin is replaced by tsiflutrin - a substance with a similar, but proven effect.

Concentrates

Concentrates require more time: they must be diluted in water, and the resulting liquid used for processing. Such insecticides are effective no less than aerosols and sprays. The use of concentrates will be more profitable if multiple treatments are needed: when it is necessary to carry out several procedures for processing hives or with a large number of them.

Get

The active ingredient Get`a is chlorpyrophos, which is an organophosphorus compound with a pronounced insecticidal effect. This is a systemic insecticide that penetrates the external integument of the wasp, respiratory system, and mouth. The substance is located in microscopic capsules adhering to the body and paws of wasps. So they spread the poison to their relatives and soon die themselves. The ratio in which Get must be bred in ordinary water is 1:15. If you violate this proportion, then the tool may not work.

"Delta zone"

A worthy Korean counterpart to Geta is the Delta Zone capsule. They are sold in 50 ml jars: such a small amount is enough for processing by spraying 50 m2. To do this, you can use a conventional manual spray gun. The active substance of the "Delta zone" is deltamethrin - a powerful insecticide that enters the body of insects by contact or intestinal route. It penetrates perfectly through the protective outer cover of the wasp.

Karbofos

"Karbofos" can be called a traditional, but outdated remedy for wasps. Its main drawback is a pungent and unpleasant odor. Therefore, today the drug is not used for room treatment. But some gardeners, in view of accessibility and effectiveness, proven for decades, still prefer Karbofos.

This product is released in the form of a concentrate poured into small bottles. Of them, before use, you need to prepare an aqueous emulsion according to the procedure and proportion specified in the instructions. Usually it is 1:10. The resulting solution can be sprayed with a hive of wasps or moistened with a plastic bag, which is then put on the nest.

Karbofos can also be purchased in powder form.

"Executioner"

The executioner concentrate, although designed to combat bedbugs, is also effective against wasps. In its modern form, it appeared on the market relatively recently - only in 2013. One bottle of the “Executioner”, which costs less than 100 rubles, is diluted in 500 ml of water. Such a liquid is sprayed on a hornet’s nest, whose inhabitants soon die.The executioner contains fenthion, an organophosphorus substance that causes the death of insects. It is both an insecticide and acaricide.

Tetrix

This is a very powerful tool, also focused primarily on the fight against bedbugs, but with lightning speed destroying wasps. It is designed and manufactured in the Netherlands. The composition of Tetrix includes two components: metaphos and cypermethrin. Their combination leaves no chance for insects. This tool is used by professional insect control services.

Choosing "Tetrix" to destroy wasps, you need to understand that it is very toxic. Of course, it cannot be used at home. The use of the concentrate is justified only if the remaining funds were useless. But the acquisition will have to face difficulties: there is no Tetrix in the open sale, it can only be ordered on the Internet. It is sold in volumes of 0.5 L, 1 L and 5 L, as well as in 250 ml bottles. The smallest volume is from 2500 to 3000 p.

Gels with insecticides and adhesives

Gels are created primarily for the control of cockroaches, but are also suitable for complex control in combination with other forms of drugs. These compounds, in which there are substances toxic to wasps, are used in baits for the speedy death of caught individuals and for smearing sections of the ceiling, walls or trees at the attachment points of the hive. For example, such tools include:

  • "Absolute";
  • Globol;
  • Fas.

Instead, you can use special adhesives for catching insects and rodents that do not contain toxic substances. This is true for those who do not want to overload the surrounding space with chemical fumes, or if it is necessary to treat the trunk of a fruit tree, because the use of poisons will make the crop dangerous.

The variety of forms and brands of means for combating wasps allows not only to choose the most suitable, but also to combine them with each other. When using pesticides, one must not forget that they are toxic to humans and animals. Therefore, it is necessary to observe safety measures, dress properly and use protective equipment.
