Flies

Preliminary Activities

In order for the selected drug to bring a positive result, it is first necessary to identify the breeding place of insects. If this is the private sector, then parasites are most likely to actively breed in garbage bins, while in high-rise buildings, the cause of the appearance of a large number of flies is the garbage chute. But sometimes the dwelling becomes the “epicenter”, and, more precisely, the garbage that was thrown out of time.

So the first step towards getting rid of flies will be as follows:

  • cleaning of places of alleged breeding of insects;
  • regular removal of garbage, and always in tightly tied plastic bags;
  • garbage cans should always be closed and washed as they become contaminated with vinegar.

Destruction of flies by folk remedies

So, after all the breeding sites of the flies were destroyed, you can proceed directly to the fight against adult flying individuals. Moreover, the funds listed below, you can well use both in an apartment and in a private house. And to increase efficiency, it is desirable to combine them with each other.

Mechanical way

This method does not need a special presentation, since at least once each of us used it. The main weapon in this case is a fly swatter or a collapsed magazine. This method has one plus - absolute safety for everyone except flies.

But there are quite a few minuses - this is a long, difficult task, and there are traces on the walls. In addition, insects react so quickly to the slightest movement that killing even a couple is very problematic.

Folk recipes

Next, folk remedies for flies that can be used directly to repel insects will be listed.

Vodka. Flies cannot tolerate vodka from all alcoholic beverages. Using it is quite simple: you need to spray the product in a room where there are flies. If insects annoy you while working in the garden, then in this case vodka needs to lubricate exposed areas of the body.

Essential oils. Among the oils, the most effective are oils of eucalyptus, peppermint, lavender, lemongrass, citronella and clove. A few drops of oil are diluted in 100 ml of water and sprayed in the room.

Important! A concentrated solution of essential oil is undesirable. Undoubtedly, the effectiveness of such a tool will be much higher, but remember your health - some aromas can cause persistent headaches and dizziness, especially in the heat!

Dried cloves. Pour a few cloves of buds in a saucer and place it on a table in the room where the flies fly. After a few minutes, the insects should leave the room.Dried cloves can also be used in other ways. It is filled with orange or lemon and get a kind of repeller.

Body lotion. To prepare it, you need to combine half a glass of table vinegar with a similar amount of hazel broth. Stir and add about 35 drops of eucalyptus essential oil. Use in open areas of the body.

Traps and lures

To combat annoying insects often use simple traps that work on the principle of attraction. All that is needed to make such a home remedy for flies is parasitic liquid and the reservoir in which it will be located, or wrapping kraft paper.

So, you can use as bait:

  • sugar syrup;
  • jam;
  • honey;
  • milk;
  • beer.

Pour the selected liquid into a jar. We want a cone out of paper and insert it so that the tip remains dry. Attracted by the aroma, insects will penetrate the jar through the cone, but will not get out again.

On a note! Instead of a paper cone, you can use a plastic funnel or just cover the jar with plastic wrap, making a few small holes in it!

A mixture of table vinegar and dishwashing liquid works quite well against flies. The ratio of the components is 100: 1. The finished solution must be poured into small containers and placed in places of accumulation of insects.

And the next bait is fatal for flies. It does not act immediately, but, having tasted it, insects nevertheless die after several hours. To prepare such a product, it is necessary to boil the sugar syrup and add a pinch of hot pepper into it. The mixture is poured into a plate and left on the table.

Another type of bait is the so-called Velcro, which consists of flies that attract flies and kraft paper. First you need to prepare concentrated sugar syrup. Next, we cut strips of about 10 cm wide from the brown paper, and soak them in a slightly cooled bait. After a few hours, dry and hang in the rooms.

And of course, fly agaric can be used from flies. We put the mushroom in a saucer with water and leave it indoors. Insects will drink poisoned water and fall asleep directly in containers. Just make sure that your pets do not drink this water.

On a note! An interesting fact is that the flies do not die because of toxic substances, but for a different reason. The mushroom cap contains alkaloids, which dissolve quite well in water. Flies drink this liquid and simply fall asleep. If the insect is taken out and left on a dry surface, then after a few hours it will wake up and fly away!

Repellent plants

Geranium is one of the most popular indoor plants, which can scare away not only flies, but also other insects. However, to create reliable protection alone plants will not be enough. Pelargonium copes well with geraniums with an invasion of flies. It is better known for its healing properties, but it can also rid your home of insects.

There are also predator plants that feed on flies. Among the most famous:

  • Venus flytrap;
  • fat woman;
  • sundew.

Herbs

And what kind of smell do flies dislike? In fact, there are a lot of those. In addition to citrus fruits, cloves and some indoor flowers described above, to get rid of these insects are used:

  • Pumpkin tops - the leaves should be thoroughly dried, then set on fire and fumigate the room. If we are talking about the territory outside the house, then you have to collect a lot of tops, but at the same time it will quickly bring a positive result.
  • Tomato tops - planting tomatoes around the perimeter of the plot and around the house is not required here. It is enough to use the leaves of the plant: spread them on the windowsill, on the veranda and in other places where there is an accumulation of flies.
  • Basil is a spicy plant that is very actively used in cooking.Its leaves exude a special aroma, which we perceive as pleasant, but the flies do not think so. And the first thing that can be done is to spread its branches in places of accumulation of insects. If a fresh plant is not at hand, then it is quite possible to use dried.
  • Wormwood - can also be used from flies. Hang bunches of dried wormwood in the house or put live bouquets in vases with water, and wormwood is guaranteed to scare away not only flies, but also ticks and moths.
  • Tansy is another plant that flies try to avoid. Especially tansy is practically not grown, and you can find it in the fields or along the roads. Hang plant bunches in rooms and its aroma is guaranteed to scare off flies and moths, mosquitoes, bugs and ticks.
  • Bay leaf - its dried leaves can be found in any kitchen. It is also very simple to use: we lay out in heaps in places where flies accumulate, you can leave a larger hill on the windowsill so that insects can not fly in.
  • Lavender - here you can use both a fresh plant and dried or its essential oil. Lavender exudes a rather intense aroma that flies, midges and other flying parasites do not like.
  • Peppermint is another herb that repels flies well. Make a sachet from a dried plant and place in the rooms of your house or cut fresh mint and put in a saucer with water.

In addition, it should be remembered that flies do not like darkness and cold. Given these facts, sometimes getting rid of insects is quite simple: just ventilate the room in the morning, letting in the cool, or shutter the windows, leaving only the window open so that the flies fly out into the light, leaving your home.

All of these folk remedies will be indispensable and quite effective with a small number of insects. And they are good, first of all, because they are safe for the environment, humans and domestic animals, especially those that contain familiar products for us: sugar, jam, etc. With a strong infection of the premises, they will in many ways be inferior to purchased insecticides, but here you choose. In addition, remember that you will always have time to use poisons, but for a start it is still worth trying to turn to sparing folk remedies for help.
