How to apply chalk Mashenka from cockroaches?

Chalk Mashenka from cockroaches has been used for a long time and during this time it has established itself well. Uninvited aliens really disappear from the apartments after using it.

Crayon Mashenka kills cockroaches

What is there in him that insects are afraid of? To understand this, consider its composition and principle of action.

Appearance and composition of the chalk

The remedy for cockroaches Mashenka has the appearance of an elongated gray-white whetstone, 20 g in weight. The crayon is sold in an impermeable blue plastic wrap with information on the consumption of the product and the method of application printed on it. This is a Russian-made drug developed on the basis of the well-known Chinese insecticidal pencil. It consists of the following components:

  • zeta cypermethrin
  • deltamethrin
  • a piece of chalk
  • gypsum.

Only two components exhibit an insecticidal property - zeta-cypermethrin and deltamethrin. These substances belong to the pyrethroid group of poisons of the contact mode of action. Toxic to warm-blooded animals and humans, therefore 4 degree of danger is assigned to the crayon.

Chalk and gypsum act as a binder and form the component of the drug and occupy about 95% of its composition. With their help, the poisonous substance is firmly attached to the surface and does not lose its activity for a long time.

Interesting fact! Crayon Mashenka was originally developed to preserve military supplies on the orders of the Ministry of Defense in the early 80s. Subsequently, having proved its effectiveness, he entered the free market for civilian use.

Operating principle

Crayfish from cockroaches Mashenka exerts its insecticidal effect in direct contact with insects. Its toxic components penetrate the outer shell of arthropods and destroy impulses from the nerve nodes to the muscles, thereby causing paralysis and death.

Compared with aerosol preparations, which begin to act already at the time of spraying, a cockroach pencil shows itself only after a while. The insect must touch the product so that the poison gets inside it. And this is possible only after crossing the chalk strip drawn with an insecticidal pencil. Accordingly, the more cockroaches run through it, the higher the effect. Insects also bring the drug into their paw nests, thus infecting their brethren.

The effect of the drug, as a rule, becomes noticeable after 4-5 days. At this time, the number of insects is sharply reduced, their twisted corpses begin to come across on the floor. In most cases, the entire colony can be destroyed in 2-4 weeks. During this period, several treatments are carried out with an interval of 7 days.

Advice! To achieve maximum impact on insects, it is recommended to apply chalk strips of at least 1-2 cm thick. In this case, the cockroach when crossing the fatal strip gets so dirty that the poison will begin to act after a few minutes.

Mode of application

Mashenka from cockroaches can be used as follows:

  • applied to the surface in the form of a chalk line;
  • sprayed into places of accumulation of insects after preliminary grinding;
  • used as a solution.

The first option is most convenient, since in this case you won’t have to remove the tenants of the apartment during the treatment, and you don’t need special protection measures either. It is only necessary to monitor the continuity of the drawn line, so that the insects probably crossed it. It is best to apply a strip along the entire perimeter of the apartment, circling the skirting boards and doorways. It would also be nice to outline all the places strategically important for insects where they can access food and water:

  • bins;
  • kitchen sink;
  • lockers with food supplies;
  • refrigerator;
  • dinner table;
  • stove.

The effectiveness of the drug will depend on the correctly selected location for applying the drug. Therefore, before processing it makes sense to inspect the apartment for the purpose of detecting nests of cockroaches and places of their greatest congestion.

If it is not possible to apply the product in a continuous line, for example, on an uneven surface, then it makes sense to grind it and sprinkle in powder form. In this case, take the necessary protective measures. Rubber gloves are put on the hands, and the mouth and nose are covered with a gauze bandage so as not to accidentally inhale the particles of the drug. This method is less preferable, since the risk of poisoning increases, and the adhesion to the treated surface is significantly reduced. However, as an additional measure of processing under skirting boards and in inaccessible places, it is quite justified.

Crayon Mashenka from cockroaches can be used in the form of a solution. For this, the product previously ground to a powder state is diluted in 5-6 liters of warm water. The resulting solution wiped the floor and all surfaces in the apartment. The advantage of this method is that the surface area to be treated increases, however, the concentration of the poisonous substance decreases, and the effectiveness of the preparation decreases accordingly.

One package of the product is enough for about 30 m of cultivated area, if you plan to use it in the form of a chalk line. The powder will need two, or even three times more. Prepared from one chalk solution can be treated with an average area of a two-room apartment.

The action of the pencil is reduced after a week, so the treatment is repeated 7 days after the first, having previously removed the remains of the drug that has lost activity with a wet rag. As necessary, repeat the entire procedure until complete disposal of insects.

Interesting fact! It is unlikely to be able to use insecticidal chalk as a school chalk, since it has a softer structure and easily crumbles.

Pros and cons of funds

Like all drugs, Mashenka’s pencil for cockroaches has its pros and cons compared to other insecticides. Due to its advantages, it is popular among the population, cons do not allow it to take its rightful place among other means of protection against domestic insects.

The Case for Chalk

Crayon Mashenka relieves cockroaches quite effectively, as evidenced by his long term in the market for insecticidal drugs. He has other advantages:

  • ease of use;
  • low cost;
  • lack of smell;
  • low toxicity.

Ease of use is due to the form of the drug. It is convenient to draw lines with chalk, quickly and with a minimum expenditure of energy, applying the product in the necessary places. Compared to powdered, aerosol preparations that require additional special equipment, preliminary preparation of the room, long preparation, the pencil is easy to use and does not require special knowledge and skills.

Low price is another factor in the popularity of this tool.It ranges from 10-30 rubles, which makes the crayon accessible to all segments of the population. There is hardly any other insecticidal drug that has such a low cost with such an effect on insects.

There is no smell of chalk, which makes it possible to process the apartment in the presence of residents and pets. Due to this, its toxicity is reduced to almost zero, since there are no particles of the poisonous substance in the air.

Cons of the drug

Despite all its advantages, the crayon has the following disadvantages:

  • short duration;
  • low efficiency with severe infection of the room;
  • danger of poisoning for young children.

Despite the fact that the drug has a residual effect for 4-6 weeks, it begins to lose its activity after a week of application to the surface. The destructive effect on it is exerted by heat and sunlight. Accordingly, the higher the temperature in the house, and the more sunlight penetrates into it, the faster the chalk from the cockroaches “runs out”. Therefore, one treatment can not do here. It will be necessary to update the chalk lines at least 2-5 times before the insects leave the room.

With a large number of cockroaches in the house, crayon is also unlikely to help. In this case, you have to go broke on a more potent remedy. The cockroach pencil is also not recommended for use in a house where there are small children, since there is a danger of poisoning them with this toxic chemical. Here, the property of reliable adhesion to the surface brings harm rather than benefit, since the likelihood of accumulation of poison on the baby’s hands increases, from where it then gets into his mouth.

And yet, despite its shortcomings, the crayon Mashenka from cockroaches does not lose its popularity. Its advantages are covered by cons, and when the question arises of choosing an insect repellent, then you should not neglect them.
