How to get rid of aphids - effective insecticides and sparing products for a rich harvest!

For the gardener, meeting with aphids is a harbinger of a complex and lengthy struggle. These insects are quite fertile, and if steps are not taken in time to destroy them, then within a couple of seasons they will spread throughout the garden. This pest infects greenhouse plants and fruit trees, destroys vegetable and berry crops. And if you notice that the leaves began to curl, became lethargic and lifeless, then you definitely need to know how to get rid of aphids. Today you will be presented with a list of drugs that can solve this problem.

Control measures

Fighting aphids on fruit trees and greenhouse crops can be carried out by various methods. Some gardeners choose chemicals. They work quickly and efficiently, but at the same time they require compliance with all safety rules. Improper use of insecticides can be harmful to human and domestic animals. For this reason, before using them, you must carefully study the instructions and carry out all manipulations with the solution in personal protective equipment.
However, the fight against aphids in the garden is quite possible with the use of more gentle means. Folk recipes are usually used in practice when the degree of infection is small. It is convenient to make small areas and greenhouses with home-made preparations; they can spray both undersized crops and fruit trees.

Let's look at each group of tools in more detail.

Chemical attack

For a quick result, you should seek the help of chemical insecticides, which have a certain classification:

  • contact tools - their use most qualitatively solves the question of how to get rid of aphids on trees. However, to obtain the desired result, the processing must be carried out in such a way that the drug will certainly fall on insects;
  • intestinal agents - penetrate the pest and poison it immediately. They are usually used in combination with the above insecticides;
  • system tools - with their help, the best results are achieved. The active ingredients of the drug penetrate into plant cells and make its juices poisonous. Such funds are characterized by a long duration, and therefore the effect will be long-term.

Important! Chemicals must be alternated, as aphids develop immunity and often, a remedy that last year showed good results this season is ineffective!

The arsenal of permitted insecticides includes:

  • "Commander" - a time-tested tool that provides protection against aphids, thrips, Colorado potato beetle and whitefly. It is a systemic contact insecticide. It starts to work actively 6-8 hours after treatment. Aphids eat poisoned plants and are guaranteed to die.
  • "Aktara" - this tool can be used both for indoor plants and for crops growing in open ground.Half an hour after processing, insects lose interest in food and die within a day.

    On a note! The drug "Aktara" is designed to combat aphids on currant bushes and flower crops!

  • "Corado" is an economical tool that helps to destroy the most tenacious pests. After an hour after treatment, the aphid loses activity and interest in food, but for some time it retains the ability to move, dies on the second or third day.

All of the above insecticides are used according to the instructions and are highly active even after rain. It is advisable to spray them with plants in calm, dry weather in the morning or in the evening. Fruit trees begin to be cultivated in early spring and for greater efficiency do this two to three times.

Important! Some insecticides are toxic to bees, so they are not sprayed with the crops during flowering. Otherwise, you can not wait for the fruit to set!

Gentle methods

If the aphid has appeared in a greenhouse or in a small area and its number is small, then getting rid of it is quite possible without the use of toxic chemicals. Proven and effective methods in this case are:

  • Spraying foliage with herbal decoctions and infusions. 200-300 grams of the selected raw material is poured with a bucket of boiling water and left for a couple of days, after which fruit trees or cultivated plants are filtered and processed. In the fight against aphids, celandine, garlic, onions, tomato and potato tops, tobacco, hot peppers and pine needles proved to be excellent.

    Advice! To keep the preparation well on the leaves, a small amount of grated laundry soap is added to its composition!

  • Glue traps, among which one can distinguish the product "Argus". This simple device is good in that it is completely harmless, since it does not contain any toxic substances. Its base is attractive not only to aphids, but also to other garden pests. Insects sit on an adhesive surface, lose their mobility and die.
  • Repellent plants are also somewhat capable of solving the problem of aphids in your area. Plant marigolds, thyme, mint, wormwood, or savory around the garden. Their smell will deter pests, creating a kind of fragrant “shield”.

It is best to use gentle methods in combination. Thus, they will complement each other's action and, quite possibly, after their application you will no longer have a question how to deal with aphids.

In addition, greenhouse crops require special protective measures:

  • in autumn, all weed grass on which aphids can hibernate must be removed with the root;
  • if possible, every 4 years completely change the soil;
  • the inner surface of the glasses is washed with a solution of copper sulfate, and wooden and concrete surfaces are whitened annually;

    Important! These events are held around April before planting in the greenhouse!

  • monitor the level of humidity and temperature conditions: humidity should not exceed 80%, and air temperature should not rise above 25 ° C.

Difficulties of struggle

It is quite difficult to fight aphids and there are several reasons for this:

  1. High breeding rate, which is associated with a large number of natural enemies.
  2. The insignificant size of the insects and the color of their chitinous cover, which allows the pest to mask well, and therefore it is quite difficult to detect them at the initial stage.
  3. Aphids are very tenacious, and therefore only one folk remedy, used once individually, very rarely brings the desired result.

Try not to lose precious time and constantly inspect your garden for aphids. Only timely measures will help you protect the crop!
