Dohlox Insecticidal Cockroach Gel

Dohloks from cockroaches is available for a long time. For all the time of use, he showed good results on the destruction of insects. A few negative reviews are associated, apparently with the addiction of the Prussians to the active substance of the drug and the use of counterfeit products.

Dohlox from cockroaches

The composition and method of action of the drug

Dohlox from cockroaches is available in gel form. This form has proven effective over the years. It is noteworthy that the manufacturer took care of the convenience of applying the drug by packing it in a convenient tube-syringe with a dispensing nozzle.

Dohlox Composition

The structure of Dohloks includes the following components:

  • gelling fat base;
  • active substance - insecticide;
  • bait;
  • preservative additives.

The gel-forming base provides the drug with the preservation of the structure and its long-term use. It protects the gel from drying out and maintains its liquid form for better efficiency and easy application. Fipronil is used as an insecticide. This is a contact-intestinal poison with a wide spectrum of action. It is used against many agricultural pests and has a strong toxic effect on cockroaches. With respect to humans and mammals, fipronil is relatively harmless. It is assigned to the second and third hazard class and can be used in residential premises.

The bait is no less important component of the gel. It provides insect contact with poison. In the gel composition, the percentage of luring agent can reach up to 50% and higher. As bait, substances are used that are highly attractive to cockroaches. Preservatives ensure its safety throughout the duration of the drug.

How does he act?

The main active ingredient of Dohloks is its poisonous filling - fipronil. When an insect enters the body through the intestines or external integument, it blocks nerve impulses passing through the ganglion nodes, causes paralysis, and then the death of the insect.

However, in order for the poison to work, its direct contact with the insecticide is necessary. To do this, the gel contains an alluring substance. The cockroach approaches the gel strip, attracted by a delicious smell and tastes it. The insect does not die immediately. It still retains mobility for several hours. During this time, the cockroach manages to smash the crumbs of poison on its feet throughout the apartment and treat them to their brothers.

The cockroach gel Dohlox acts like a time bomb, affecting the entire colony of insects in a relatively short time. The death of the poisoned Prusak occurs on the 8th day, and the complete destruction of the colony a week after the start of use of the drug.

How is dohlox applied?

Dohloks insecticide for cockroaches is available in a syringe-shaped tube. Using it, gel strips are conveniently applied not only to horizontal, but also to vertical surfaces - walls, legs of chairs, side surfaces of cabinets.

Mode of application

The gel is applied in broken strips around the perimeter of the room, in places where insects appear and around places where they feed - garbage cans.In order not to stain the floor, you can apply them on pieces of cardboard, which are then laid out around the apartment.

Gel strips are squeezed out of the syringe with an interval of 2 cm. With a low infection of the apartment with insects, the distance can be increased to 4 cm.

Important! If the visible effect does not immediately occur, this does not mean that the drug does not work. It is necessary to wait 1-3 days, only then the gel will show its effect and the first crooked corpses will appear on the floor of the apartment. Over time, insects will become less and less until their number disappears.

If necessary, the treatment is repeated after 3-4 weeks. Although the residual effect of Dohlox lasts up to 2 months, over time, the bait is exhaled, and the poison loses its toxic effect. Therefore, it is best to remove old drug residues and apply new ones.

One syringe from cockroaches Dohloks designed to handle the average size of a two-room apartment. With the economical use of the drug and low infection of the apartment, it can be enough for two treatments.

Precautionary measures

Despite the low degree of danger to humans, the following safety measures should be observed when applying the gel:

  • use gloves;
  • wear safety glasses on your eyes;
  • cover your nose and mouth with a gauze bandage or respirator.

Also, you should not drink drinks during the processing and eat food, touch the face with gloves, and talk.

Efficiency

Like all insecticidal drugs, Dohloks cockroach gel has its strengths and weaknesses. Consider them all.

The advantages of the gel:

  • convenient application;
  • long-term effect;
  • economical use;
  • relative safety;
  • low price;
  • good performance.

Cons of the drug:

  • long wait for the effect;
  • difficulties with using the gel in a room where there are small children and pets;
  • possible traces of the smeared drug on furniture, floors and walls;
  • inefficiency against insect eggs.

Reviews of the effectiveness of Dohloks are mostly positive, however, there are also sharply negative assessments of the drug, possibly due to the addiction of insects to it. In this case, another insecticide should be used, to which cockroaches do not yet have resistance. An alternative to Dohlox can be Raptor, which is also available in gel form. We talked about him in an article: Raptor is a powerful remedy for cockroaches!

  • While living in Moscow, a small colony of cockroaches settled in the apartment. Everything that is actively advertised on TV and sold in any store was like a treat for them. The effect is zero. I came across Dohloks, took it with a margin, but one tube of gel was enough. The next morning the kitchen was littered with cockroach corpses, and we did not see them again until we moved to St. Petersburg. Having met here with these red-headed reptiles, I got Dohloks from the nest egg ... but he did not act on the Petersburg ones. Not one died. I don’t know whether the remedy ran out (although the expiration date did not come out), or whether the local cockroaches are any special, but they don’t give a damn about Dokhloks.
