Will dichlorvos help with wasps? Overview of the composition, principle of operation and features of using the product

Dichlorvos is perhaps the most popular insecticide, known for many decades. Today it is an advanced drug with powerful pesticides. Does dichlorvos work from wasps and how to use aerosol correctly?

What is dichlorvos?

Speaking about the use of dichlorvos, you must first give a clear distinction between a chemical of the same name and the trademarks of insecticides, under which aerosols with a completely different composition are produced today.

Dichlorvos from the point of view of chemistry (DDVF) is an organophosphorus compound that is a powerful broad-spectrum insecticide with a pungent odor. Since it is relatively safe when used in everyday life and in factories for human health, it was previously used everywhere to destroy unwanted insects, primarily cockroaches and moths. Dichlorvos is also effective against wasps.

Dichlorvos (DDVF) is not for sale or use today. That "Dichlorvos", which is on the shelves of stores, borrowed from the original only the name known to everyone, and it contains pyrethroids (usually 2 types and more).

With the development of the chemical industry and research, more advanced and safe for humans synthetic substances with insecticidal effects, pyrethroids, have been developed. They are shared by 3 generations, but all of them practically do not harm the health of humans and mammals, because the compounds are quickly eliminated from the body.

An important advantage of the modern "Dichlorvos" is its availability: aerosols are sold in each hardware store at a cost of about 100 rubles, which makes them accessible to all potential customers.

The composition of "Dichlorvos"

To understand how Dichlorvos acts on wasps, you need to consider its components. The composition of the aerosol includes:

  • cypermethrin (0.20%);
  • tetramethrin (0.16%);
  • permethrin (0.16%);
  • piperonyl butoxide (0.5%).

Due to the combination of these components, the substance penetrates into the wasp organism not only through the respiratory and oral opening, but also through the skin. All toxic substances that make up Dichlorvos belong to modern pyrethroids, therefore, if safety precautions are observed, they are safe for humans.

Application

Aerosol from various manufacturers is on sale: NEO, ECO, Varan and others. All of them have an identical composition and release form, so their application is the same.

Although the use of "Dichlorvos" seems familiar and familiar to everyone, before you start using it is necessary to carefully read the instructions. Departure from the rules specified in it is strongly discouraged! This can be detrimental to health or make killing insects ineffective.

Advantages of the modern "Dichlorvos":

  1. Unlike its predecessor, it has a subtle, pleasant smell due to the addition of flavorings. There are also products with the marking “Odorless”.
  2. It affects not only wasps, but also other insects.
  3. The effect of the treatment lasts for 2 weeks.
  4. One spray can (volume about 190 ml) is enough for processing 30 m2.
  5. Availability and low cost.
  6. Ease of use.

The answer to the question whether dichlorvos helps with wasps is in the affirmative. Aerosols produced under this brand have a pronounced insecticidal effect, easily coping with any flying insects. With the help of "Dichlorvos" it is possible to process living quarters from the accumulation of wasps and destroy their nests.

Safety precautions

A person starting to fight wasps with the help of Dichlorvos should take care of his protection from bites and chemicals:

  • put on clothes made of thick fabric, leaving no exposed areas;
  • use gloves and a hat with a mosquito net;
  • protect respiratory organs with a respirator;
  • put on glasses so that the chemical does not get into your eyes.

Work must be done carefully. Firstly, protect yourself from insect bites, which, having sensed something was wrong, can attack with a swarm and behave very aggressively. Secondly, aerosols should not be allowed to enter the respiratory tract, eyes, skin and mucous membranes.

Room processing

Before you begin processing the living quarters, you should prepare:

  • to carry out or cover with a protective whip personal items, children's toys, dishes and indoor plants;
  • warn about the use of chemicals by neighbors;
  • remove the curtains in which wasps can hide,
  • close the window and door to the room.

Spray with "Dichlorvos" is held in a hand at a distance of about 25 cm to the accumulation of wasps. It is enough to spray aerosol for 5 seconds. After that, if necessary, "switch" to other individuals. When the wasps are killed, you need to carefully ventilate the room.

Destroying an Aspen Nest with Dichlorvos

It’s easy to destroy the wasp nest using Dichlorvos. To do this, an aerosol is carefully selected and sprayed to the hive, trying to make sure that the jet enters the insect dwelling through an opening from below. Some time after processing, all its inhabitants must die, and you can begin to remove the nest. If wasps continue to fly out of the hive, repeated use will be required.

If possible, it is advisable after processing the hive to tie it with a plastic bag: this will increase the effect of the insecticide several times.

The place of attachment of the nest should also be sprayed with an insecticide or wiped with a solution of potassium permanganate in water.

To assess whether dichlorvos kills wasps, you can do it yourself at home. Modern drugs with this name are effective and safer than dichlorvos "obsolete". Therefore, following the instructions, they can be used to exterminate flying insects in dwellings and to eliminate wasp hives.
